The objective of the Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business is to provide learners with core knowledge and skills required by middle managers in any organisation that are often involved in financial planning & control, financial management, taxation, financial reporting, and people management.
The qualification is designed to be completed over one academic year of full-time study. However, we accommodate for completely flexible delivery, so that students can schedule their learning around other commitments such as work or family. The qualification is delivered online through our Virtual Learning Environment.
All units within this course are internally verified by our assessors and externally verified by OTHM. This course is criterion-referenced, based on specific learning outcomes. To achieve a “PASS” for a unit, a student must complete the learning outcomes to meet the assessment criteria set by OTHM.
The Level 5 OTHM qualification teaches practical skills, knowledge, competences, and capabilities that are comparable in academic terms as being equivalent to Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or to a Higher National Diploma (HND).
Successful completion of this course enables the learners to get direct entry into OTHM Level 6 Diplomas, including the Level 6 Diploma in Business Management. As this Diploma is regulated and approved by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulations), Learners can get direct entry into year 3 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programs with advanced standing at many of the UK and international universities.

• Have a relevant GCE/GCSE or NQF/QCF/RFQ Level 4 Diploma/Award or equivalent qualification
• The student must be 18 or older at the time of enrollment
• Students over 21 years are also advised to have management experience
Learners are expected to have English language proficiency of CEFR Level B2, this can be met in any one the following ways:
• Being a native English language speaker
• Having achieved an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
• Having had your last two years of schooling in English
• Passing our online English language test
Awarding body fee of £250 is payable by the learner to the awarding organisation within 14 days of starting the course. This will be collected from the learner and passed on to the awarding organisation for registration and certification purposes. The final certification you get is the same, regardless of your route. There are no strict deadlines for submitting individual coursework, allowing you room and flexibility to pace your studies; the only deadline is the overall course duration based on the option you selected above.

The Learner must possess a relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 4 Award/Diploma, or a GCE/GCSE-level or higher qualification, in addition to other appropriate credentials. The student must also have relevant managerial experience if they are over 21.
A wide number of academic progressions, including progression to the Level 6 Diploma in Accounting and Business and other pertinent OTHM Level 6 Diplomas, are available to learners who complete the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business. Also, you will be qualified for direct entry into the final year of a three-year UK bachelor’s degree programme after successfully completing this Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business programme.
This Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business will assist you in acquiring the information and abilities necessary for a middle manager in an organisation that may be responsible for financial management, financial planning and control, financial reporting, taxation, and people management.

I have over 15 years’ experience in teaching and training. I have worked in education for 34 years, in various guises. I managed a busy nursery for 12 years before branching out into Assessment and Quality Assurance, more than 20 years ago. My practice has developed alongside the ever-evolving training and apprenticeship sector, and I have worked in many different settings, including colleges, private training agencies and a foster care agency. I also work part time as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for a local charity that supports higher level education for young people with Special Educational and/or behavioural needs and as a tutor for a bespoke programme for one-to-one support. I really enjoy supporting learners of varying abilities and experience to achieve their best and to become qualified in their chosen field.
