Overview

The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices (RQF) is the industry standard qualification for becoming a Lead IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) in the FE and HE sector. Awarding bodies and training centres will expect you to either have Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices, an equivalent, or working towards this qualification if you are to take up an IQA position. You are not required to have any prior qualification or experience to start this course. This NVQ / TAQA qualification will enable you to monitor the work of assessors within organisation as well as monitor an internal verification team. You will also need to have access to the work of qualified assessors and internal verifiers that you can quality assure, to meet the practical requirements of this course. Level 4 Leading IQA qualification is accredited by UK OFQUAL and is delivered 100% online. This course will assist you regardless of your subject expertise.

Scope of this Qualification

This Level 4 IQA qualification covers a wide range of sectors such as Hairdressing, Beauty Industry & Make Up, Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction, Early years, NHS training, Child and Health Care, Business, Administration and Management, Hospitality and Catering, Oil and Gas Field, Private Security, Apprenticeship, Health & Social Care and Educational Sectors etc.

Duration and Delivery

This Level 4 Certificate in Leading IQA course is designed to be completed online at the pace that suits you the best. We also provide a fast-track completion option for this certificate course. It can take as little as 3 weeks or up to 9 months to complete the course, depending on your previous experience and dedication to the course. The leading IQA qualification is delivered through our virtual learning environment (VLE) with complete online tutor support.

Assessment and Verification

All units within this course are internally assessed by our qualified assessors and externally verified by the awarding organisation. The assessment takes the form of written assignments, and a practical element of observations. You will receive tutor support once enrolled on our online VLE to assist you in reaching your goals.

Progression

Successful completion of this qualification enables learners to progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, which would allow you to apply for QTLS status and become a teacher in state-funded secondary schools.

  • Practical Requirements

    • For unit 2, Trainee IQA must have access to two assessors assessing two vocational learners each, whose work can be sampled and verified.
    • For unit 3, Trainee IQA must have access to at least two other Internal Verifiers who quality assure two assessors each.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Most of the tasks would be attempted through essay style written accounts and reflections of your own IQA practices. Simulations are not allowed. Evidence must be submitted for the practical tasks and come from the Trainee IQA’s performance in the work environment. There must be evidence of the Trainee IQA monitoring a minimum of 2 assessors each working with a minimum of 2 candidates of their own and at least 2 internal verifiers who quality assure 2 assessors through components of a qualification. All evidence must be valid, authentic and sufficient for all the assessment criteria.

What does a Lead IQA do?

A Lead Internal Quality Assurer is an occupationally competent professional who leads a team of internal quality assurance staff at their organisation. The Lead IQA is required to monitor, support and co-ordinate the work of the IQA working group and/or trainee IQAs in any relevant organisation, including the monitoring of learning, delivery, and assessment activities occurring in the centre, as well as legal issues such as data protection.

What is the difference between units 2 and 3 of the IQA?

The IQA unit 2 qualifies you as an internal verifier capable of sampling and verifying the work of assessors. The third unit qualifies you as a Lead IQA, indicating that you are capable of leading/supervising a team of internal verifiers.

Do I need to be a qualified assessor to become an IQA?

It is not necessary to be a qualified assessor to become an IQA. This course is designed for anyone who is responsible for quality assurance in a learning and development environment.

How many assessors do I need to assess to complete this course?

You are required to assess the work of two assessors who are working with two learners each (four learners altogether).

I am out of work. Can I still do the quality assurer course?

Yes, you can complete the theoretical part first and then wait to get a placement to complete the practical requirements of the course.

Will I have to sit an exam?

No, you will be assessed by the coursework alone.
