The OTHM Level 7 Certificate in Research Methods is specifically designed to develop a researcher’s ability to prepare for different academic activities based on research through the design and development of their research proposal.
Learners will develop a fundamental understanding of practical, philosophical, and ethical concepts of research within the context of an academic environment. The course is accredited by UK OFQUAL and is delivered 100% online with support.
This level 7 online course is designed to be completed over two months of full-time study. However, we accommodate for completely flexible delivery, so that students can schedule their learning around other commitments such as work or family. The qualification is delivered online through our Virtual Learning Environment. Our online tutor support is there to assist you throughout your studies.
All units within this course are internally verified by our qualified assessors and externally verified by OTHM. This course is criterion-referenced, based on specific learning outcomes. To achieve a “PASS” for a unit, a student must complete the learning outcomes to meet the assessment criteria set by OTHM.
This course is based on the Regulated Qualifications Framework’s (RQF’s) equivalent to Master’s degrees, which can be used to gain important knowledge while gaining credits, which can be put towards gaining a fast tracked master’s degree at a University.
Upon successful completion of this 100% accredited online course, learners will earn 20 credits at the Master’s degree level. A learner can also use these credits to progress to further studies, including progressing towards an MBA top-up. Moreover, as this qualification is regulated and approved by OFQUAL (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), professional institutes or employers also would usually recognize this qualification for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

For entry into this course, students must meet the following criteria:
• A UK level 6 diploma, an honours degree, or equivalent qualification.
• Mature learners are also advised to have management experience.
• The learner should be 21 or older at the time of enrollment.
Learners are expected to have English language proficiency of CEFR Level B2, this can be met in any one the following ways:
• Being a native English language speaker
• Having achieved an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
• Having had your last two years of schooling in English
• Passing our online English language test
Awarding body fee of £200 is payable by the learner to the awarding organisation within 14 days of starting the course. This will be collected from the learner and passed on to the awarding organisation for registration and certification purposes. The final certification you get is the same, regardless of your route. There are no strict deadlines for submitting individual coursework, allowing you room and flexibility to pace your studies; the only deadline is the overall course duration based on the option you selected above.

The learner must have a Hons Degree, UK Diploma 6, or equivalent in a related field; mature learners must have prior administrative experience. Also, the learner must be 21 years or older at the start of the programme; Must have achieved IELTS 5.5 or equivalent if not a native English speaker.
If a learner hasn’t done IELTS, they will have the chance to complete an English language assessment as part of your application process, which is free of charge and typically marked within 72 hours. I am an enthusiastic educationist who is a fellow of the higher education academy and I have completed my Doctorate of Business Administration. I worked as an accountant and business consultant up until 2017, where I started exploring my capabilities in academia and teaching. I have worked in education for 34 years, in various guises. I managed a busy nursery for 12 years before branching out into Assessment and Quality Assurance, more than 20 years ago. My practice has developed alongside the ever-evolving training and apprenticeship sector, and I have worked in many different settings, including colleges, private training agencies and a foster care agency. I also work part time as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for a local charity that supports higher level education for young people with Special Educational and/or behavioural needs and as a tutor for a bespoke programme for one-to-one support.
